Moving Across the Country: The Benefits of Backloading

When I was offered a new job in Perth, I had to relocate my life from Brisbane. I had no idea how I was going to ship all my things across Australia. I considered hiring a van and doing it myself, but driving thousands of miles and then starting work when I arrived just didn't appeal to me. I looked into using a moving company, but I was put off a little by the cost. It was then my friend mentioned backloading. Backloading allowed me to haul my things across the country on trucks which were returning from another job. This drastically reduced the cost. I am now settled in Perth, but I wanted to start this blog to help others who need to store or move the things they own.

Two Situations in Which You Should Hire Furniture Removalists

Here are two situations in which you should hire furniture removalists to help you out when you move.

You have recently bought new, expensive furniture

If you have recently purchased a few new pieces of expensive furniture that you will be taking with you when you move, then you should arrange for these items to be transported by a local furniture removalist. If you were only taking a few old, inexpensive furniture items (such as battered sofas and threadbare armchairs), then you could probably transport them yourself. This is because, even if you were to drop the sofa and crack one of its wooden feet or tear one of the armchair's cushions whilst carrying it down some steps, you would not be hugely upset, as these items generally are not valuable.

Conversely, if you have a couple of pristine, expensive furniture items that you want to keep in good condition or would not be able to replace, then it is best to get some furniture removalists to pick up and deliver these items to your new place. Due to their access to commercial lifting equipment, their physical strength and their training on how to handle furniture, they will be able to move your favourite new furniture items without leaving even the tiniest scuff mark on them.

You will have a ton of non-furniture items to unpack at your new home

If, in addition to several furniture items, you also need to take and unpack a huge number of other things, then you should hire furniture removalists. Due to its weight and large size, moving furniture is much more physically demanding than moving boxes of other items. If you move your beds, sofa, tables, desks and bookcases yourself, you will probably find that when you finally have a chance to unpack your boxes, you will be too tired and achy to do it.

This might result in you having to wait until your sore muscles have recovered from the furniture-moving to finish off this work. This, in turn, would mean you would have to put up with your new home being in disarray for a few extra days. In contrast, if you had some furniture removalists helping you, they could take care of this exhausting work and you could focus on unpacking your numerous belongings and putting everything in its rightful place straightaway.
